Clean Energy Turns DFW Area into a Renewable Natural Gas Hub

Clean Energy announced the opening of two new fueling stations that offer heavy-duty truck and other fleet vehicles renewable natural gas (RNG). A station in North Fort Worth, near Alliance and DFW airports, and another in South Dallas close to I-45, I-35 and I-20, are strategically located near dozens of distribution centers and allow trucks to take advantage of a fuel that provides similar convenience as diesel, yet is rated as one of the cleanest in the world.

Report: Washington can Lead Nation in Advancing Green Hydrogen Economy, but Must Move Quickly, Strategically

Green electrolytic hydrogen and renewable fuels made with hydrogen are expected to play an important role in Washington’s economy as it transforms to eliminate fossil fuels from the energy system, according to a recent report from the Washington Department of Commerce. The report finds that Washington has one of the first opportunities in the country to advance a green hydrogen economy at scale.

The report also suggests Washington should move quickly to produce green hydrogen and renewable fuels. Importantly, it will be critical to quickly develop new renewable energy and transmission capacity to produce the green hydrogen and other types of renewable fuels derived from hydrogen. To deploy these fuels effectively and equitably, the state should prioritize the most strategic uses and focus on environmental justice and workforce considerations as part of growing a green hydrogen economy.

Challenges, Opportunities for Biofuels in Mexico

Experts highlight the potential of biofuels to facilitate the energy transition in Mexico, particularly in sectors like transportation and industry. However, regulatory hurdles hinder their widespread adoption, delaying their integration into the energy landscape.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), while terrestrial mobility is shifting toward electromobility, progress in sustainability for air and maritime transport has been slower. Biofuels and hydrogen are identified as key elements for decarbonizing these sectors, potentially constituting 10% of global consumption by 2030.

Biogas Investment Tax Credit Still Needs Tweaks, IRS Told

While the IRS clarified that the clean energy investment tax credit would cover eligible upgrading equipment integral to biogas properties, the industry could get a boost if final rules allow separate ownership of the equipment, stakeholders told the agency Wednesday.

The Internal Revenue Service made the clarification in a correction to be published Thursday in the Federal Register in response to the industry's initial concerns. But the current proposal still requires that a single entity owns the clean energy facility in order for it to qualify for the tax credit under Internal Revenue Code Section 48 , the stakeholders said during the agency's hearing on the proposed rules implementing the credit. The requirements are a problem for biogas or renewable natural gas, or RNG, production facilities that tend to have different ownership structures, they said.
