Shell Sees Rising Value in German Biomethane Market

Shell, opens new tab expects growth in German biomethane markets where its client base seeks decarbonized energy and its fossil fuels activities could be transformed to support future profitability from a high-value segment, a top manager said.

Sonja Mueller-Dib, managing director of Shell Energy Deutschland, said her company is planning two biomethane plants at Karstaedt and Steinfeld, which could meet up to 5% of current national biomethane consumption by the end of this decade.
