Sumitomo do Brasil and Cemvita Partner to Integrate RNG and Bio-Oil Production in Brazil

Sumitomo Corporation do Brasil and biotechnology company Cemvita have announced a partnership to integrate the production of renewable natural gas (RNG) and bio-oil, a precursor of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), in Brazil. The collaboration pairs Cemvita’s biotechnology platform with Sumitomo’s global infrastructure and market access to convert waste streams into higher-value, lower-carbon fuels and accelerate commercialization in the country.

By integrating bio-oil technology with RNG projects, the partners aim to produce both fuels in parallel, creating operational and economic synergies while supplying waste-based feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel. The companies describe RNG as a strategic global commodity and position Brazil as a critical long-term hub for biofuel supply and the circular bioeconomy.
