Cherriots is Oregon's Cleanest Public Transit Fleet

Cherriots is now the state’s cleanest public transit fleet now that it is using renewable natural gas (RNG).

Cherriots, also known as Salem Area Mass Transit District (SAMTD), contracted with the fuel provider U.S. Gain and has been using RNG in its fleet since spring. More than half of the district’s buses now operate on RNG, which reduces harmful smog forming tailpipe emissions by more than 90 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by more than 40 percent.

Greenlane Renewables CEO Brad Douville: Greening the Natural Gas Grid

Greenlane Renewables (TSXV:GRN) President and CEO Brad Douville shared the role his company is playing in building a global renewable natural gas industry.

Worldwide, Greenlane Renewables provides biogas-upgrading systems that produce clean, low-carbon, renewable natural gas (RNG). RNG is derived from organic waste sources such as landfills, wastewater treatment plants and agricultural facilities. The nearly carbon-neutral fuel is indistinguishable from conventional natural gas and can be used in natural gas powered vehicles or injected into the natural gas grid.

Guest Commentary | Illinois Lawmakers, Seize This Moment on Clean Energy

Like so many in states across America, Illinois families have taken a serious economic hit this year. But Illinois has an opportunity to tackle the need for cleaner, lower-emissions energy while creating more jobs and new opportunities across the entire state. That’s what Springfield lawmakers can deliver by passing clean-energy legislation.

As one of Illinois’ diverse energy providers, BP applauds the principles Gov. J.B. Pritzker recently put forward for a clean, renewable economy and urges state legislators to seize this moment for a comprehensive climate bill that includes a price on carbon.

Duke Vows to Double Renewables Capacity, Reach Net-Zero Methane Emissions By 2030

Duke Energy on Friday announced plans to bring its gas operations to net-zero methane emissions by 2030, increase its renewable energy output and retire some of its coal plants earlier than planned.

The utility plans to double its renewable energy portfolio capacity to 16 GW by 2025, at least triple the amount for its regulated subsidiaries by 2030. The company also plans to reach 40 GW for its regulated subsidiaries by 2050, along with 11 GW of storage across its system by that time. It will also retire all of its coal-only units in the Carolinas by 2030 and is "working with stakeholders to accelerate retirement of coal plants in Indiana," Duke spokesperson Phil Sgro said in an email.

New York's MTA, the Port of Seattle, and Vanguard Renewables are Recognized with Energy Vision Awards for Advancing Adoption of Low-Carbon Fuel

New York, NY - October 9, 2020 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Energy Vision (EV), a non-profit research institute which studies and promotes viable decarbonization technologies for energy and transport, held its 14th annual awards event last night (virtually this year due to Covid). EV presented its annual awards for leadership and innovation in sustainability to three organizations that have helped advance adoption of renewable natural gas (RNG), a low-carbon fuel made from organic waste: New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Port of Seattle at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Vanguard Renewables.

RNG is made by capturing the methane biogases emitted as food, agricultural manure, and other organic wastes decompose, preventing these potent greenhouse gases from escaping into the air. The gases are then refined into fuel that is chemically similar to fossil natural gas, but vastly superior in terms of its impacts. It involves no drilling or fracking, it's fully renewable and clean burning, and it has the lowest lifecycle GHG emissions of any currently available fuel. When food wastes and manures are the feedstocks, RNG is net carbon-negative over its lifecycle, which means that more GHG is captured in making it than is ever emitted by the vehicles burning it
