Landfill Biogas Sees Steady Growth, Plus RNG News from Anaergia, Vanguard, Montauk Renewables
Landfill gas developers added more capacity in 2024 alone than they did from 2019 through 2022, the American Biogas Council reported in August. The year caps off rising investment in the space, as developers have poured more than $1 billion into the biogas space in each of the past two years.
RNG-Fueled Fleets in California Mark Five Years of Carbon-Free Outcomes
Last calendar year marked the fifth consecutive year that commercial fleets in the State of California fueled by bio-CNG (renewable natural gas, or RNG) achieved a carbon-negative transportation outcome, according to a report released today by The Transport Project (TTP) and RNG Coalition alongside partner California Renewable Transportation Alliance (CRTA).
Let Green Gas Count Campaign Coalition Issues High-Level Recommendations Towards Corporate Greenhouse Gas Reporting
The “Let Green Gas Count” campaign, coordinated by a coalition of eight organisations, including the European Biogas Association, has published High-Level Recommendations on the treatment of low-carbon gases in corporate greenhouse gas reporting.

NWRA, RNG COALITION Among Groups Pushing Back on RFS Proposal
The RNG Coalition and National Waste & Recycling Association submitted joint comments to the U.S. EPA pushing back on the smaller incentive it proposed for fuels like renewable natural gas in its latest Renewable Fuel Standard proposal.
The proposal, which EPA released in June, would set targets for low-carbon fuels through 2027 with a much bolder goal for biodiesel and crop-based biofuels than cellulosic biofuels like RNG. The agency argued tepid transportation demand for RNG and lower-than-expected production of the fuel meant it needed to lower expectations for cellulosic biofuels.
