AstraZeneca Opens Biomethane Plant in UK To Cut Emissions

AstraZeneca has opened a plant to produce biogas from organic waste that will ensure by the end of this year all of its research and development and drug manufacturing in Britain is powered by clean energy, it said on Thursday.

The plant, operated through a 15-year agreement between AstraZeneca and UK-based biomethane producer Future Biogas, will supply 100 gigawatt hours (GW) of renewable energy per year for AstraZeneca's three R&D and manufacturing sites in the country, equivalent to 20% of its total gas consumption globally.

Weltec Biopower Hands Over Dairy RNG Plant in USA

In February 2025, Weltec Biopower has successfully completed the commissioning and handover of a dairy RNG (Renewable Natural Gas / biomethane) plant in Barron County, Wisconsin. After just four months of construction, the dairy farm produces 2.36 million standard cubic meters of RNG/biomethane annually (86,600 MMBTU per year).

Opal Fuels Expands RNG Network With California Station Buy

OPAL Fuels Inc., a renewable natural gas (RNG) producer and provider, currently valued at $501 million and identified as undervalued by InvestingPro analysts, has announced the acquisition of a fueling station in Visalia, California, as part of its strategy to expand its RNG dispensing network. The company plans to upgrade the station and supply RNG to Western Milling's transportation division, OHK Transport, along with other local carriers.

The Visalia station, situated at 31189 Road 68, operates under a long-term lease and fuel purchase agreement, which includes provisions for additional public volumes. This acquisition is intended to cater to the increasing demand for renewable transportation fuels within California's Central Valley, building on OPAL's impressive 30% revenue growth over the last twelve months.

LoCI Controls System Demonstrates Early Methane Capture Enhancement at Loess Hills Regional Sanitary Landfill in Iowa

LoCI Controls, the leader in real-time monitoring and control technology for optimizing landfill methane capture, today announced results from its methane capture project at Loess Hills Regional Sanitary Landfill, which is owned and operated by Iowa Waste Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Waste Connections, Inc. US Hydrogen Industry Pleads With Congress To Preserve 45V Tax Credit

A letter addressed to US congressional leaders highlighted the critical role of Section 45V tax credits in driving the growth of the hydrogen industry, positioning the nation for “global energy dominance.”

Sent February 18 by a coalition of businesses and organizations representing the American hydrogen industry, the letter said the sector has been “hamstrung by delays in the regulatory guidance for this credit by the Biden Administration” over the past two and a half years.
