UPS Pushes for Carbon Neutrality With Diversified Low-Carbon Strategies, Electrification

UPS has set a target to achieve 100% carbon neutrality by 2050, leveraging a mix of alternative fuels, fleet electrification, and operational efficiencies to meet its sustainability goals.

The plan includes milestones like using 40% alternative fuels in ground operations by 2025, sourcing 25% of its facilities’ power from renewables by 2025, and cutting CO2 per delivered package in half by 2035, said Gordon Reed, UPS director of industrial engineering.

Greenlane Renewables Announces $6.5 Million Landfill Gas-To-RNG System Sale

Greenlane Renewables Inc. announced that it has secured a $6.5 million contract to provide a new system for upgrading biogas produced at a landfill in Canada into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas ("RNG"). The customer's name and further contract details have not been disclosed at this time. Greenlane's biogas upgrading systems cleanse the impurities in biogas and separate the carbon dioxide from the biomethane to create a clean, high-purity low-carbon fuel: biomethane /RNG.

Greenlane is the only biogas upgrading company offering and actively deploying multiple core technologies: water wash, pressure swing adsorption (PSA), membrane separation, plus proprietary desulfurization solutions. Greenlane solutions are built around standard product platforms. Once operational, Greenlane can provide aftercare service including 24/7 technical support and remote monitoring, as well as maintenance and spare parts.

Catalyzing California’s Clean Energy Revolution Through Renewable Natural Gas

California is setting a powerful example in its pursuit of a low-carbon future with the recent launch of a major renewable natural gas (RNG) facility at the Keller Canyon Landfill — the state’s largest landfill gas-to-RNG facility to date.

This collaboration between Ameresco, Republic Services, and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) turns landfill waste into a sustainable replacement for fossil fuels, showing how transformative energy solutions can take root and grow across California and North America writ large. Today, Keller Canyon is converting up to 4,500 cubic feet of landfill gas per minute into around 1 billion cubic feet of RNG every year. Think about that. That’s preventing 62,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere each year—the same as taking 30,000 cars off the road. And when we see the potential in projects like this, it becomes clear: this isn’t just about reducing waste. It’s about rethinking waste as a valuable resource that can help power the future we want to build, while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
