Chevron Eyes Medium-Duty Vehicles for RNG Growth
US supermajor Chevron says the medium-duty vehicle market could be a growth area for its low-carbon natural gas fuel business as electric vehicles (EVs) prove more costly.
Turning Waste Into Fuel: Bourbon Industry Offers New Path for Renewable Energy
University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE) researchers are turning one of the state's largest and fastest-growing industries into an unlikely renewable energy source.
Novilla RNG Begins Operations of Its Buckhorn RNG Facility, Announces Start of Construction on Four Additional Projects
Novilla Investment Holdings, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Buckhorn RNG, announced today that it has begun operations at its renewable natural gas facility at Lynn Brothers Dairy in Unity, WI. The project represents Novilla RNG’s fourth project to reach operations, the second in Wisconsin, and a continuation of its business plan to develop a reasonable number of dairy projects every year.
Is CARB Snubbing Natural Gas as a Truck Fuel?
Renewable natural gas may not be a perfect fuel for trucks, as Jim Nebergall, general manager, hydrogen internal combustion engines, Cummins, noted in Part 1 of this series on The Case for RNG in Trucking.
But RNG is a fuel that is ready for prime time, argues Chad Lindholm, vice president, sales, Clean Energy.
Greenlane Renewables Announces $6.5 Million Landfill Gas-To-RNG System Sale
Greenlane Renewables Inc. announced that it has secured a $6.5 million contract to provide a new system for upgrading biogas produced at a landfill in Canada into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas ("RNG"). The customer's name and further contract details have not been disclosed at this time. Greenlane's biogas upgrading systems cleanse the impurities in biogas and separate the carbon dioxide from the biomethane to create a clean, high-purity low-carbon fuel: biomethane /RNG.
Greenlane is the only biogas upgrading company offering and actively deploying multiple core technologies: water wash, pressure swing adsorption (PSA), membrane separation, plus proprietary desulfurization solutions. Greenlane solutions are built around standard product platforms. Once operational, Greenlane can provide aftercare service including 24/7 technical support and remote monitoring, as well as maintenance and spare parts.
Catalyzing California’s Clean Energy Revolution Through Renewable Natural Gas
California is setting a powerful example in its pursuit of a low-carbon future with the recent launch of a major renewable natural gas (RNG) facility at the Keller Canyon Landfill — the state’s largest landfill gas-to-RNG facility to date.
This collaboration between Ameresco, Republic Services, and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) turns landfill waste into a sustainable replacement for fossil fuels, showing how transformative energy solutions can take root and grow across California and North America writ large. Today, Keller Canyon is converting up to 4,500 cubic feet of landfill gas per minute into around 1 billion cubic feet of RNG every year. Think about that. That’s preventing 62,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere each year—the same as taking 30,000 cars off the road. And when we see the potential in projects like this, it becomes clear: this isn’t just about reducing waste. It’s about rethinking waste as a valuable resource that can help power the future we want to build, while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.

First Renewable Gas Flows in New Zealand Pipeline
First Renewables has confirmed production has begun at its biogas upgrade facility at the Ecogas Reporoa Organics Processing Facility in Broadlands, New Zealand.
James Irvine, general manager of Future Fuels at Clarus hailed this as a historic milestone for the country’s gas pipeline infrastructure.
Republic, Ameresco Partner on California RNG; Plus News From Vision RNG and Vanguard
Republic Services and Ameresco celebrated the opening of California’s largest landfill-gas-to-RNG plant at the Keller Canyon Landfill in Pittsburg, California, on Oct. 2. The renewable natural gas plant builds on the companies’ existing partnership at the site.
Ameresco, founded in 2000, has been on a growth journey built around organic growth rather than acquisitions. The company first began treating biogas at wastewater treatment plants in 2008 before expanding both the feedstocks the company will process and the products it can produce, including RNG. Today, more than 90% of the facilities it processes gas from are landfills.
