Energy Vision Report Finds Advanced Landfill Tech Could Cut US Methane Emissions Deeply at Low Cost While Yielding High Returns for Operators

Landfills are a major source of methane emissions – the third-largest in the U.S. after the agriculture and energy sectors. But by implementing practical, cost-effective measures, total landfill methane emissions can be halved while providing new revenue for operators, according to a report released today by the NGO Energy Vision, “Leading with Landfills: The Immense, Cost-Effective Potential of Advanced Technology to Reduce Methane Emissions at Landfills Nationwide.”

Weltec Biopower Unveils Biomethane Plant to Empower Beef Producers

Weltec Biopower, a German manufacturer, is currently constructing a biomethane plant for the Elivia Group in partnership with its French partner, Agripower France.

Le Lion-d’Angers, in the Pays de la Loire area of western France, is home to the headquarters of France’s second-largest cattle producer. The plant will inject biomethane into the public gas grid at this site in November 2025, next to the company’s own abattoir.

NZ Government Signals Strong Support for Biogas Sector at Industry Forum

New Zealand's Energy Minister Hon Simon Watts has reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to developing a thriving biogas market in New Zealand, calling the renewable energy source a “strategic opportunity” to boost energy security, reduce emissions and support regional development.

EU to Take Action Against Countries for Missed RED III Change Target

The European Commission has decided to open infringement procedures against 26 EU Member States for failing to move the bloc's flagship renewable energy regulation into national law.

The EC has sent letters of formal notice regarding the failure to communicate to the EC the full transpositions of the third version of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), which sets out requirements to use renewable energy across industry and transport by 2030.
