Repsol Supplies Brittany Ferries With Bio-LNG for First Time
Spanish energy company Repsol has supplied 60 tonnes of bio-LNG to Brittany Ferries for use in its LNG-fuelled vessels, Salamanca and Santoña, in the first supply of its kind in Spain.
The supply took place at the LNG-bunkering terminal in Santander, Spain, after the fuel was produced at the first bio-LNG facility in Spain located in As Somozas in the northern Spanish region of Galicia. The fuel is made from waste from the agri-food industry, agriculture, and households, as well as sewage plant sludge.
Blue Diamond Partners With Divert Ahead of Renewable Energy Facility Opening
Though we may still be months away from the opening of the new 65,000 square-foot Divert Inc. facility that will process unsold food from grocery stores into renewable natural gas, the Massachusetts-based technology company announced last Tuesday that they were entering in a partnership with Blue Diamond Growers.
Blue Diamond — the world’s leading almond company with processing plants in Turlock, Salida and Sacramento creating products like almond flour, almond oil and almond protein powder— will be sending almond processing byproducts to the facility being built at 4407 W. Main St. for it to be transformed into renewable energy.
Veolia and Waga Energy Inaugurate a Renewable Natural Gas Production Unit in Southeastern France
Since the landfill site was operational, gas has been upgraded in the form of electricity by cogeneration engines. The WAGABOX® unit has been operational since April 11, 2024, and adds to the system to increase renewable energy production. Capable of processing 600m3/h (375 Scfm) of raw gas, it can produce up to 25 GWh (85,300 MMbtu) of RNG per year, supply around 3,500 homes, and prevent emissions of more than 4,000 tons of eqCO2 per year into the atmosphere.
Thanks to the WAGABOX® technology, developed and patented by Waga Energy, the gas spontaneously emitted by landfilled waste is upgraded into RNG, a substitute for fossil-based natural gas. This RNG is injected directly into the gas distribution network to supply homes and businesses.

Fortis BC: B.C. Facing an Energy ‘Trilemma’
Increasingly, we’re confronted by the energy “trilemma.”
That energy trilemma requires us to balance reliability, sustainability and affordability. Each component is necessary. They can’t be thought of or managed in isolation. As a critical energy provider for our customers, these are the issues we’re focused on as we support B.C.’s energy transition.
Biomass Will Help Keep Georgia’s Power Supply Stable and Clean
Have you ever filled up with premium gasoline at the pump? I do it regularly despite it costing more. I do it because of improved fuel economy and the long-term benefits to my vehicle’s fuel injection system — avoiding future repairs. That same dynamic happens when Georgia diversifies energy fuel sources.
Biomass energy is like the premium fuel of our day. It allows us to use for additional reliable power homegrown wood residuals that would otherwise be burned or sent to a landfill. We might pay a little more, but the benefits for our electric system and our state are worth it.
