Aemetis, a renewable natural gas and renewable fuels company focused on low and negative carbon intensity products, today announced that its Aemetis Biogas subsidiary completed a key milestone of constructing and operating dairy digesters with a capacity to produce more than 300,000 MMBtu of renewable natural gas (RNG) per year. Additionally, the planned construction of new digesters is expected to increase the annual RNG production rate to over 800,000 MMBtu by the third quarter of 2025, more than a 150% increase from the current production rate.
Our commercial revenue generation from selling RNG for transportation began in January 2023, and we have already grown to a production rate of more than 300,000 MMBtu per year, which generates revenues of about $13 million per year in todays markets prior to receiving LCFS Provisional pathway approvals, prior to expected increased revenue from expanded LCFS credit mandates in November of this year, and prior to transferable 45Z tax credits starting in January 2025, stated Eric McAfee, Chairman and CEO of Aemetis, Inc. We have already closed $50 million of 20-year USDA guaranteed funding for the biogas project and achieved positive cash flow from biogas operations, and we are working to close an additional $75 million of USDA-guaranteed construction funding this year.
Clean Energy Opens Renewable Natural Gas Station Near Philadelphia
Clean Energy Fuels announced the opening of a new renewable natural gas (RNG) station in Carney’s Point, New Jersey for heavy-duty trucks and other fleet vehicles to access a fuel produced from organic waste and is rated the cleanest available.
The new station is strategically located in the important trucking corridor between Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE near Interstate 295 and the New Jersey Turnpike and is now part of Clean Energy’s fueling network of over 600 stations in North America.

€25 Billion in Private Investments Secured for the Growth of the Biomethane Sector in Europe by 2030
The European biomethane sector will receive an injection of €25 billion in private investments by 2030, according to a European Biogas Association (EBA) analysis released today. This represents a 30% increase compared to last year estimates. The 2nd edition of the Biomethane Investments Outlook forecasts €2.1 extra billion investments in the pipeline, but yet to be allocated.
The projected investments by 2030 will result in the installation of 950 new biomethane plants across Europe, alongside the 1,300 facilities already operational. This will add 6.3 billion cubic meters (bcm) of biomethane capacity annually to the continent, which could contribute to avoiding nearly 29 million tons of CO2 emissions each year, providing renewable energy to 5 million European households year-round, and producing 830 thousand tons of fertilizer annually.

Municipalities Adopt Cleaner Solutions Inking Agreements with Clean Energy
Clean Energy Fuels has announced a series of new deals with several municipalities across the country. These agreements represent a collective growing demand within city agencies for more sustainable, low-carbon solutions for their operations.
“What we are now observing is that municipalities which are eager to meet their environmental and fiscal goals can do this with renewable natural gas (RNG) easily, immediately and cost-effectively. Many cities are now making clean fuel a requirement for their transportation needs because of local, state and federal requirements to reduce emissions. RNG is the best solution to meet those needs,” said Chad Lindholm, senior vice president at Clean Energy.

RNG, also known as biomethane, is a carbon-negative biogas that has been upgraded to be similar in quality to fossil natural gas. It's sourced from municipal solid waste landfills, livestock, wastewater treatment plants, and food production facilities, among others.

This collaboration has diverted 243.75 tons of inedible food waste from overflowing landfills. To put 243.75 tons of food waste into perspective, that is an estimated emissions reduction of 156 Tons of C02e in 2023 alone.
The secret weapon in this eco-friendly partnership is Vanguard Renewables Farm Powered® Anaerobic Digesters. Vanguard Renewables operates these facilities on dairy farms, where they combine inedible food waste along with cow manure in a sealed tank called an anaerobic digester. In a breakdown process fueled by naturally appearing microbes, this organic mix breaks down and generates biogas. This biogas is then cleaned and upgraded on-site into renewable gas, a clean-burning fuel that can be used to power homes, businesses, and even vehicles!

This facility, crafted with precision over a two-year span by ESI, features a complex, multi-step processing plant engineered to convert landfill gas into methane, offering a remarkable advancement in the renewable energy landscape.
The Facility focuses on waste-to-energy conversion by capturing landfill gas, which is primarily methane, and processing it into renewable natural gas. This project showcases a sustainable waste-to-energy conversion model by taking a natural byproduct of waste and turning it into energy. The produced RNG seamlessly integrates into Kinder Morgan's natural gas pipeline network. Through an offtake agreement, bp secures the RNG supply from Waste Connections to fuel transportation operations, solidifying the project's commercial and environmental impact in the RNG market.
