Sevana Bioenergy Acquires Rialto Bioenergy Facility, Bolstering West Coast RNG Production
Sevana Bioenergy, a leading developer and operator of large-scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, announced today the successful acquisition of the Rialto Bioenergy Facility located in Rialto, California.

Hexagon Agility, Brudeli To Deliver NZEVs for U.S. Freight Transport
Hexagon Agility and Brudeli Green Mobility (Brudeli), a Norwegian electric transmission technology company, will collaborate on a new integration. The companies said it will integrate Hexagon Agility’s CNG/RNG systems with Brudeli’s plug-in PowerHybrid technology.
Transport Project and RNG Coalition Says Bio-CNG Helped California Fleets Achieve Carbon Negativity in 2023
In California, Transport Project (TTP) and Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas (RNG Coalition) – with partner California Renewable Transportation Alliance –announced that California fleets fueled with bio-CNG achieved carbon-negativity in their transportation operations last calendar year for the fourth straight year.
Renewable natural gas (RNG) accounted for 97% of all on-road fuel used in natural gas vehicles in California in 2023. According to data from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) the annual average carbon intensity score of bio-CNG in that mix was -126.42 gCO2e/MJ.
LoCI Controls' Carbon Credits Meet ICVCM Standards with Latest ACR Methodology Approval
LoCI Controls today announced its carbon credits now meet The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) standards through approved ACR methodologies.
This development follows the council's approval of the ACR "Methodology for the Quantification, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions and Removals from Landfill Gas Destruction and Beneficial Use Projects," which has earned a Core Carbon Principle (CCP)-Approved status. To qualify for the label, methodologies must conform with the CCP criteria for robust quantification, including establishing conservative baselines and accounting for uncertainty and leakage.
Cepsa Advances Biofuel Production With New Plant
Biofuels can be used to decarbonise land, sea and air transportation in various different forms. The big advantage of biofuels is that they work with most existing combustion engines, meaning they can be distributed through the current infrastructure for conventional fuels.
Cepsa is already producing some biofuels from used cooking oil at the La Rabida energy park in Huelva. Earlier this year it began construction—together with Bio-Oils—of a $1.3 billion second-generation biofuels plant in the same location. Along with the existing facilities operated by Cepsa and Bio-Oils in Huelva, the plant will form the second-largest renewable fuel complex in Europe, with a total production capacity of 1mt/yr.
Energy Companies Are Paving the Way to a Greener Garden State
South Jersey Industries (SJI) has long been a leader in renewable energy with the vision of a clean energy future through the delivery of safe, reliable, and affordable natural gas to approximately 700,000 South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas customers throughout New Jersey.
SJI currently has several projects that have been developed through partnerships. One of the latest is the Linden Renewable Energy project, which is a partnership between SJI, Captona and RNG Energy Solutions. The project will build an interconnection between a food waste anaerobic digester project and the natural gas supply for Elizabethtown Gas. This type of renewable natural gas will actually replace the equivalent of 30,200 gallons of gasoline each day. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Ameresco RNG Plant Begins Commercial Operation in Illinois
Ameresco has achieved commercial operation at its landfill-gas-to-renewable- natural-gas plant at Republic Services’ Brickyard Landfill in Danville, Illinois, in the US. Michael Bakas, executive vice president, gives Bioenergy Insight an overview.
Ameresco is a cleantech integrator specializing in sustainable energy services including, designing, building, owning, operating and maintaining biogas projects. Headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, the company develops energy service projects and assets around the globe.
CARB Denies Petition To Regulate Dairy Methane Emissions
The California Air Resources Board on May 30 declined a request to immediately initiate rulemaking proceedings that would require all dairies within the state to adopt some form of methane mitigation and adopt enteric emissions reduction measures.
Climate Action California in March filed a petition with CARB urging the agency to take action to reduce the state’s methane emissions by regulating methane produced by certain types of livestock operations.
GreenGasUSA, Darling Ingredients Partner to Reduce Emissions and Repurpose Waste Through the Production of RNG
GreenGasUSA and Darling Ingredients Inc. are pleased to announce their partnership to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) and capture CO2 from the wastewater streams at Darling’s facilities in the U.S. The collaboration is expected to result in material greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions at Darling’s facilities from the installation of gas upgrading systems, CO2 capture systems, as well as generate other beneficial co-products.
At the core of its business, Darling Ingredients champions sustainability, and GreenGasUSA is a producer of RNG from environmental and industrial waste streams. Through Darling and GreenGasUSA’s collaboration they aim to accelerate the development of innovative solutions to unlock value from waste streams and deliver significant environmental benefits such as GHG reductions.
Missouri’s City of Springfield Provides Update on RNG Project
City of Springfield Environmental Services, Missouri, US provided an update on its renewable natural gas (RNG) project at the June 4 City Council Lunch Workshop.
The project proposes to convert biogas generated at Springfield’s Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill and Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant into RNG and deliver the renewable energy source to the grid of natural gas pipelines.
