Greenlane Renewables Announces Dairy RNG System Sales Contract

Greenlane Renewables has been awarded a $4.6 million (US$3.5 million) contract for a dairy RNG project in the Western United States for the supply of a biogas upgrading system. Greenlane will supply its pressure swing adsorption system for upgrading biogas generated from anaerobic digestion of dairy cow manure into carbon negative renewable natural gas ("RNG") suitable for injection into the local pipeline network. Order fulfillment is expected to commence immediately.

"This new project win for Greenlane continues to highlight just how important dairy-derived RNG is, particularly for commercial transportation fuel providers", said Brad Douville, Chief Executive Officer. "Dairy RNG is by far the lowest carbon intensity fuel available today and remains a core and growing option for major fuel providers to decarbonize now."

Edmonton's Clover Bar Landfill Still Not Capped and Releasing Gas After 13 Years, New Capture Technology Planned

Edmonton’s Clover Bar landfill is still uncovered and releasing fumes more than a decade after closing to the public, and new capture technology is in the works to convert its methane into renewable biogas for sale.

City council’s utility committee met privately Friday to get an update on the landfill-gas-to-renewable-gas conversion project at the Clover Bar landfill. The project was approved in February 2021, also in private, and is expected to be complete by mid-2024.

‘Wave of the Future’? New Method Better Breaks Down Sewage into Methane for Electricity

Creating their own cheap, renewable energy could soon be a reality for cities thanks to new research from Washington State University Tri-Cities.

Researchers at the Richland campus are working to streamline and scale up a bioengineering process to produce renewable natural gas out of treated human feces. The process will help cities, counties and smaller governments reduce the amount of carbon dioxide they produce by powering wastewater treatment facilities and city-owned electric vehicles with the natural gas – in this case, methane – that’s produced.

BayoTech – Driving Down the Cost of Clean Hydrogen Production with Gabriel Olson

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), signed into law by President Biden on August 16, 2022, authorized $391 billion in spending on energy and climate change as part of a $738 billion overall package. The Environmental Protection Agency called the IRA “…the most aggressive action in tackling the climate crisis in U.S. history.”

A vital element of the IRA is a package of hydrogen production tax credits (PTCs) designed to stimulate clean hydrogen production and consumption and spur innovation in the sector.

They Capture Cattle Gas from Manure and Produce Enough Methane to Power 1,300 Homes

A London-area dairy farm is first in the province to sell methane — produced from cow manure and other waste — directly into the natural gas grid, and enough to supply 1,300 homes.

Count the project at Stanton Farms as one green energy project built without government money or a special government mandate compelling a higher-than-market rate for the green energy produced.

Chevron to Acquire Full Ownership of Beyond6 CNG Fueling Network

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. announced today it signed a definitive agreement to acquire full ownership of Beyond6, LLC and its network of 55 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across the United States from Chevron’s current B6 co-owners, a subsidiary of Mercuria Energy Trading and B6 CEO Andrew West.

Chevron is complementing the strength of its traditional products business with new offerings that help customers support a lower carbon future, and renewable natural gas is an essential part of its portfolio of solutions. Through collaborations with Brightmark LLC and California Bioenergy LLC, Chevron is developing projects across the United States designed to convert fugitive methane emissions from dairies to a beneficial use as renewable natural gas, which can be considered carbon negative on a lifecycle basis under California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard. With this acquisition, Chevron can market the RNG it either produces or procures through a nationwide network of CNG locations.
