Venture Awarded Source-Separated Organic Waste to RNG Project In New York
Venture Engineering & Construction announced its selection as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractor for the design, construction, and commissioning of a $100+ million Source Separated Organic Waste (SSOW) Digester to RNG facility.
Located on Long Island, NY, the site will collect SSOW from residents, grocery stores, and other commercial food entities in the area. In addition, Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) will be collected to serve as liquid feedstock for the digester. The Facility will process the SSOW and FOG waste in an anaerobic digester to produce biogas that contains ~60% methane by volume. The biogas will be upgraded to produce pipeline quality RNG. This facility will be designed to process up to 180,000 ton/yr of SSOW and 30,000 ton/yr FOG into RNG, making it one of the largest such facilities in the U.S.
Dominion Energy Utah to Launch Program for Customers to Affordably Reduce Carbon Footprint
Dominion Energy customers in Utah and Idaho will soon have a new, affordable way to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. The CarbonRight program will allow customers to voluntarily offset carbon emissions from natural gas use in their home or business by supporting projects, including in Utah, that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
To participate, customers may purchase carbon offsets in $5 blocks on their monthly bill. A typical residential customer can offset their entire carbon footprint, achieving "net zero" carbon emissions from their natural gas usage, by purchasing one block a month.
Canada Launches Applications For $200 Million Fund to Support Pollution-Cutting Projects
Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, announced that the second round of applications is open for $200 million through the Low Carbon Economy Fund's Champions stream, which supports a wide range of local pollution‑cutting initiatives in communities across Canada.
Champions stream investments support municipalities, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and Indigenous communities to develop and implement transformational projects that significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, create good jobs, and contribute to Canada's 2030 emissions reduction target.
SoCalGas Details Transition to Clean Energy in 2045 Sustainability Strategy
Utility supplier Southern California Gas Co. has a plan to readily supply clean energy to its 21.8 million consumers. The nation's largest gas distributor is focusing on further providing renewable natural gas derived from landfills, dairies and wastewater treatment facilities to several areas in Central and Southern California.
CHAR Announces New Biocarbon & RNG Project in Québec
CHAR Technologies Ltd. announces that CHAR will deploy, own and operate a high temperature pyrolysis system located adjacent to a biomass power plant on land that has been reserved for CHAR by the City of Saint-Félicien, Quebec. The facility will produce approximately 5,000 tonnes per year of biocarbon and 250,000 GJ/yr of renewable natural gas, for which CHAR has received a letter of interest from the local natural gas utility.
Scandinavian Biogas Invests in Major Bio-LNG Plant Expansion
Scandinavian Biogas will invest SEK 300 million (€28.6 million) in expanding its bio-LNG plant in Gladö Kvarn on Södertörn, south of Stockholm.
The expanded plant, expected to be complete in the second half of 2023, will become the largest of its kind in northern Europe, producing 220 GWh of bio-LNG annually. By comparison, 220 GWk corresponds to an energy volume of 22 million litres of diesel.
Scandinavian Biogas is collaborating with Gasnätet Stockholm regarding gas infrastructure and with Stockholm Water and Waste at Henriksdal in Stockholm. The equipment for liquefying the biogas will be supplied by Air Liquide.
Enchanted Rock Launches Partner Program for Utilities to Offer Customers Comprehensive Resiliency Service

Enchanted Rock's natural gas microgrids will help utilities to meet the growing need from their customers of a more reliable, cheaper, and cleaner back-up power solution.
Clean Energy Inks Another Deal For Dairy Farm RNG
Clean Energy Fuels has signed a deal with one of the largest US dairy farmers to provide an additional 5 million gallons of low carbon renewable natural gas as it seeks to expand its RNG fueling network, the company said in a Jan. 26 statement.
Under the agreement, Clean Energy Fuels will build a methane capture digester at Millenkamp Dairy, located in Jerome, Idaho, to produce the renewable natural gas which will then be shipped to California.
Clean Fuel Standard Would Build New Mexico Economy, Reduce Emissions
This legislative session we can bring over $470 million in clean energy investments and close to 4,000 jobs to New Mexico all within the next eight years. And, these investments and jobs will improve the air we breathe while protecting our water and land. Strengthening our economy and improving our environment are possible if lawmakers pass Senate Bill 14, the Clean Fuel Standard Act.
By passing this bill, New Mexico will become a national leader in the manufacture and usage of cleaner fuels, such as ethanol, biodiesel, low-carbon hydrogen, renewable natural gas, and, of course, renewable electricity for electric vehicles (EVs).
Decarbonization of Trucks With Today’s RNG
Truck companies and shippers hiring truck companies are taking bold steps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, including net zero by 2030. After the effort is done, hard work begins. Hard work because achieving more than net zero requires more than operational improvements. Beyond the cleanest diesel platforms requires new business practices and cost-effective alternative technologies. Renewable natural gas (RNG) has emerged as the primary route for low-carbon clean air trucks. There are three compelling reasons why RNG is helping sustainable companies decarbonize today’s transportation.
