Chevron Corp. committed to an “aspiration” of net zero emissions from its operations by 2050 as the company responds to rising investor and societal pressure to play a bigger role in a transition to a low-carbon future.
Chevron also set a target of reducing carbon intensity by 5% from 2016 levels by 2028 for the full lifecycle of its products, the San Ramon, California-based company said Monday in a report. The target includes Scope 3 emissions, or those of its customers. Shareholders defied Chevron’s board in May and voted to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
Sustainability a Priority For Seattle-Tacoma International Renovation
This summer, just as passengers returned in significant numbers, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) opened Phase 2 of its $710 million North Satellite modernization project, adding much-needed gates and square footage.
The investment, however, was about more than adding operating space. Making sure the new facilities meet or exceed passenger expectations was equally important for the Port of Seattle, which owns and operates SEA.

Global Energy & Commodities Consortium Collaborate
A consortium of leading energy and commodities market participants has collaborated to execute the first-ever Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG) supply agreement to use the Xpansiv Digital Fuels Registry™ to validate and register the gas’s origin, energy content and methane intensity, all derived from independent data sources.
Macquarie Energy Canada, Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Macquarie Group will supply Québec’s leading natural gas distributor Énergir with natural gas from Pacific Canbriam Energy, a certified producer under the Equitable Origin EO100TM Standard for Responsible Energy Development. The registered DNG attributes are recorded in an immutable digital certificate, enabling the owner to retire and claim the digital asset to meet ESG goals.
Proposed Biogas Facility at Shoosmith Landfill Promises to Cut the Smell – and the Carbon Footprint
For decades Chester has had that funk – the wafting odor of garbage that leaks out of Shoosmith Bros.’ landfill, especially on humid, windy days, and permeates surrounding neighborhoods, businesses, schools and the government offices and courthouse along Iron Bridge Road.
But it could soon be a lot less funky. Last week, the Chesterfield County Planning Commission greenlighted a new biogas processing facility that would be located on 10 acres next to the landfill off state Route 10. Morrow Energy, a renewable natural gas treating equipment supplier from Midland, Texas, is seeking permission to build a facility that would capture the methane gas released by the landfill and turn it into renewable gas, which is then funneled to a nearby TransCanada pipeline.
