Gov. Murphy Unveils New Jersey's Energy Pledge to Fight Climate Change
New Jersey will become the first state in the nation to require builders to consider the impact of climate change if they want their projects approved, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday as he unveiled the final version of the state’s new energy master plan.
The Democratic governor outlined the plan in a speech at Stockton University in Galloway, calling the 290-page document "ground zero” for “weaning the state off its century-old addiction to fossil fuels.”

Capital City Approves Waste-to-energy Project
The City Council has agreed to support a proposal for a $200,000 project development of the Waste Water Treatment Facility to use methane gas generated to heat and power the plant.
“Biogas” is a byproduct of the plant and could significantly lower energy costs, reduce the plant’s carbon footprint and help the city meet its net-zero fossil-fuel use goals, officials say.
The City Council made the decision to fund the project after a presentation last week that provided an update on the first phase of the project that was funded by a $16.75 million bond voters approved in November 2018.

Low-carbon Fuel Credits Promote Clean Energy without burdening Taxpayers
Every day we hear about how the climate crisis is impacting our city, our state, our country and the planet. The 2010s were the hottest on record. Australia is on fire. Our oceans are warming and acidifying.
Now is the time to build a reliable, clean energy market in the United States, starting with action from our statehouses. Thankfully, New York is leading. Last summer, Governor Andrew Cuomo and the legislature came together to pass the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, committing to reduce planet-warming pollution 85% below 1990 levels by 2050, and offset the remaining 15%. This sets us on a path to take real action to lower emissions and make our communities more sustainable—but it’s going to take a lot of work to achieve these goals.

Bio-methane from Organic Dairy Waste could be a 'New Gold Rush' on the Farm
The back end of a cow generates 80 pounds each day of what Dennis Haubenschild, who owns 750 of them near Princeton, refers to as a “non-depletable renewable resource.”
Now, technology and policy are aligning for farmers to take advantage of all that manure in a surprising way — by turning it into gas that can fuel vehicles.
Haubenschild was among the first dairy farmers in the state to experiment with biogas production, and he uses manure-turned-gas to generate heat on his farm. But climate change policies in California and Oregon have created a different, national market for the gas that comes from livestock manure.

British Gas Utilizing Biomethane in New Tenewable Tariff
British Gas has launched a 100% renewable tariff, providing customers with renewable electricity matched through Guarantees of Origin certificates or Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin Certificates.
The Green Future Tariff includes green gas, with 10% sourced from biomethane produced by renewables, and the remaining 90% carbon offset thanks to a partnership with ClimateCare. The carbon is offset through carbon reduction projects in developing countries by purchasing Verified Emission Reduction Certificates from traceable projects verified by the Verified Carbon Standard.

Minority Communities in California Deserve Energy Choice Too
How to address California’s climate change issues in a way that works for minority communities is the topic of robust and ongoing debate, as it should be.
As president of the California Natural Gas Vehicle coalition, I work tirelessly every day to educate people about how to best reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve California’s climate change goals.
I know firsthand the incredible opportunities that renewable natural gas (RNG) offers – it is a carbon negative energy source, meaning it actually reduces carbon emissions from the air rather than emitting it. RNG can be delivered right to people where they live and work, and it dramatically reduces transportation emissions. RNG vehicles powering heavy duty trucks are far cleaner than trucks powered by dirty, polluting fossil-fueled engines.

First Nations Climate Initiative on Using LNG to Address Global Climate Change & Alleviate Poverty
Today, the First Nations Climate Initiative (FNCI) extended an invitation to all First Nations to meet with them on January 29, 2020 in Prince George to share their vision for a world where global warming is limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius, where Indigenous communities prosper and British Columbia leads the way to a low carbon economy that delivers on regional and international commitments to climate change targets.
This unique First Nations Climate Initiative was formed in September of 2019 by the leadership of the Haisla Nation, Lax Kw'alaams Band, Metlakatla First Nation and the Nisga'a Nation.

Air Liquide Recognised by the CDP as One of the Best-performing Companies in the Fight Against Climate Change
Air Liquide (Paris:AI) has integrated the prestigious “A-list” established by the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), a non-profit organisation that evaluates companies based on their climate action.
This year, Air Liquide has been awarded an “A” rating, the highest score available from the CDP. This rating recognises the Group as one of the companies most committed to the fight against climate change. In November 2018, the Group announced the most ambitious Climate objectives in its sector, including Air Liquide’s commitment to reducing its carbon intensity by 30% by 2025. Its global approach combines action on its own assets, for its customers and in developing low-carbon ecosystems.

Vermont Gas to be Zero Emission by 2050
Vermont Gas Systems, the state’s sole provider of natural gas, announced a plan last year to eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions from their operations by 2050. The company also unveiled plans to double energy efficiency savings, outlined strategies to reduce home and business emissions and promised to continue sustainable partnerships in communities around the state.
Vermont Gas is one of the state’s largest utility companies and serves about 50,000 customers in the residential and commercial sectors.
