Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has become the exclusive provider of clean transportation fuels for the member companies of the Harbor Trucking Association (HTA), a coalition of companies operating more than 8,000 trucks in America’s West Coast ports.
As part of the new partnership, Clean Energy says it will provide specialized clean fuel programs to HTA members as the industry prepares for the implementation of the newest version of the Clean Air Action Plan adopted by the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The company will also provide workshops on programs for clean technology funding, as well as aid in grant-writing for company fleets and individual owner operators looking to upgrade their equipment.

An anaerobic digestion (AD) plant at Crapo Hill landfill in New Bedford, Mass., the state’s first disposal site to house such a facility, is expanding.
The plant was built by Commonwealth Resource Management Corporation to digest food waste, biosolids, fats, oils and grease and to make biogas. The biogas is mixed with landfill gas, some of which is used to power the waste-to-energy (WTE) plant adjacent to the landfill while the majority is sold into the regional grid.

A specialized process emulsifies the food waste into a bio slurry that gets pumped into anaerobic digesters or large, sealed tanks filled with bacteria that break down the material. Out comes biogas containing methane that is used to produce electricity or is converted into compressed natural gas and pumped into cars, trucks and buses for a cleaner-burning ride. The solids are converted into fertilizers for hay farms and backyard gardens.

The ECO is an independent, environmental watchdog for the province of Ontario.
Titled ‘Ontario’s Climate Act: From Plan to Progress,’ the report is an “independent, non-partisan review” of the Ontario government’s progress in reducing GHG emissions for 2016-2017. After its issuance by Environmental Commissioner of Ontario (ECO) Dianne Saxe, in January 2018, the report was transmitted to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (Parliament) for consideration.

HOUSTON, Feb. 16, 2018 – Trillium CNG, one of the nation’s leading providers of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle fueling facilities, and Larson Design Group (LDG) are being honored for their work in bringing 29 CNG fueling stations to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania as part of a public-private partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP) presented Trillium and LDG with the Innovative Award at its annual awards ceremony February 15.

HOUSTON, Feb. 16, 2018 – Trillium CNG, one of the nation’s leading providers of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle fueling facilities, and Larson Design Group (LDG) are being honored for their work in bringing 29 CNG fueling stations to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania as part of a public-private partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. In 2016, Trillium and LDG partnered to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a program of CNG fueling stations in Pennsylvania. The stations will supply locally sourced CNG to more than 1,600 public-transit buses at 29 agencies across the commonwealth to save fuel and operational costs at a net zero development cost to taxpayers. Seven of the 29 facilities will be open to the public. ESPW members submit nominees for the annual awards, and recipients are selected by a panel of ESPW past-presidents.
“This was an unprecedented project that shows the value of public-private partnerships,” said Bill Cashmareck, managing director of Trillium CNG. “We’re honored to receive this award along with Larson Design Group and to bring fuel alternatives to fleets and consumers in Pennsylvania.”

This grant from Ohio EPA will assist owners of heavy-duty diesel- or gasoline-powered vehicles (weighing at least 26,000 pounds) to convert or replace engines to use compressed natural gas (CNG), liquified natural gas (LNG), or liquid petroleum gas (LPG, such as propane or butane). These cleaner fuels and technologies help improve air quality by reducing diesel emissions such as nitrogen oxide and fine particulates. Grants also may be used for bi-fueled or dual-fueled vehicles that can run on both an alternative fuel and gasoline or diesel fuel.

Proving the versatility of the mobile pipeline concept, Hexagon Composites’ subsidiary Hexagon Lincoln will supply high-pressure CNG TITAN® tanks to the maritime industry. The company has been awarded supply for fuel storage onboard a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) gas supply vessel (GSV) being built for Babcock Schulte Energy.
The TITAN® cylinders will store compressed boil-off-gas from the LNG tanks and flash gas from cargo operations and supply the CNG as fuel to the ship’s dual-fuel propulsion engines.

The Trump administration released its proposed 2019 budget on Monday. The energy portion focuses on an “all-of-the-above” strategy and proposes cuts to several clean energy programs.
Under the blueprint, the Department of Energy would see a slight bump in funding to $30.6 billion over the current $30.1 billion, but that extra cash would go to administration priorities such as modernizing the nuclear arsenal and fossil energy research and development. Other programs, like the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), would receive far less than current funding levels.
API urges EPA not to exempt small refiners from US biofuel mandate
San Antonio (Platts)-
The American Petroleum Institute has come out against a campaign by small refineries to avoid their obligations under the US biofuel mandate, according to a letter released Tuesday.
More than two dozen refineries with throughput of less than 75,000 b/d have reportedly petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency to get out of the Renewable Fuel Standard's blending requirements based on a provision in the law allowing the agency to make exemptions based on "severe economic harm."
EPA has declined to answer questions about the petitions.
