Market Changes Favor RNG as Best Option for Replacing Aging Heavy Diesel Trucks
Energy Vision issued an updated version of its 2025 report “A Path to a Healthier America: Ditching Old Diesel Trucks,” which assesses various candidates for replacing aging, polluting heavyduty diesel trucks with clean alternatives. The new version takes into account changed energy economics amid oil supply disruptions from war in Iran, which pushed diesel prices up markedly. Today diesel costs $6.23/gallon nationwide and $8.15 in California, about 60% higher than before the war.
