American Dairies Recycle Record Amounts of Manure into Renewable Energy

American dairy operations are converting record volumes of manure into renewable energy, using anaerobic digesters to capture methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere and turning it into renewable natural gas or renewable electricity. Nearly 500 U.S. dairies now capture biogas, reflecting growing producer participation in renewable energy markets that provides an additional revenue stream while reducing agricultural methane emissions.
