BP buys TravelCenters of America for $1.3 billion

BP PLC said Thursday it is buying travel center operator TravelCenters of America Inc for USD 1.3 billion to increase its offering of electric vehicle charging stations. 

The announcement comes a day after BP said it will invest $1 billion in electric vehicle charging in the US by 2030. The London-based oil company said the acquisition offers growth opportunities for four of its five growth drivers: convenience, electric vehicle charging, biofuels /renewable natural gas and hydrogen.
