U-M Researchers Lead $6.8 Million Study to Turn Food and Farm Waste Into Fuel

University of Michigan scientists are leading a $6.8 million research project to expand what organic materials – like food and agricultural waste – can be bio-digested into methane.

Anaerobic digestors have been used for decades to make energy, and this five-year research project will determine how cost-effective an enhanced method can be and whether the process results in a reduced carbon footprint.
