BP Partnering in Two RNG Ventures; SoCalGas Interconnecting More Landfill Gas
BP plc is advancing plans to develop more renewable natural gas (RNG) projects in the United States.
In the most recent deal, BP is joining Aria Energy to make RNG for transportation from captured methane from waste at three dairy farms in California. Nearly 10% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are estimated to be from the agricultural sector.
Digesters are to be installed at three dairy farms in the Central Valley to produce biogas from farm waste in the project, RNG Moovers.
“RNG can play an important role in decarbonizing the transportation sector and helping BP and the world get to net zero emissions,” said BP Senior Vice President Sean Reavis, who oversees the low carbon and trading business.
