Pittsburgh Emerging as Center of Landfill Gas Development

Bill Johnson had been CEO of ShalePro Energy Services for about seven years when he came upon an emerging part of the industry.

The boom in natural gas production had helped his Houston-based company grow to 300 employees, thanks to generating revenue from unconventional natural gas plays throughout the country.

But this latest opportunity was something totally different: Taking methane that naturally occurs in landfills, collecting it and then processing it on site to create pipeline-quality natural gas.
