California IEPR Proceeding Workshop to Discuss RNG

The California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and California Air Resources Board (ARB) will jointly conduct a workshop to discuss recommendations on the development of renewable gas (including biogas & biomethane) for electricity and transportation fuel to reduce short-lived climate pollutants, as required in the 2017 Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR) proceeding under Senate Bill 1383 (Lara, Chapter 395, Statutes of 2016).

SB 1383 requires several actions regarding the development and use of renewable gas (including biogas and biomethane) as an electricity source and transportation fuel to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. The workshop is part of the 2017 Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR) proceeding.

Energy Commission Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller is the Lead Commissioner for the 2017 IEPR, and he will conduct the meeting jointly with the CPUC President Michael Picker, and the ARB Chair Mary Nichols. They may be joined by Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) or her representative. Other Commissioners from the Energy Commission and the CPUC may also attend and participate in the workshop. A quorum of Commissioners from the CPUC and/or the Energy Commission may be in attendance, but no votes will be taken.
